ISO 14001 standard for environmental management system implemented in all Onninen countries

Onninen Group was awarded an ISO 14001 certificate at the end of 2009. ISO 14001 standard is targeted for organizations to help to enable continuous improvement in environmental issues and to minimize any possible negative effect the daily operations might have to environment.

Onninen’s operations in Finland, Sweden and Norway have received ISO 14001 earlier. The biggest change in environmental issues at Group level is that now also Poland, Russia and Baltic countries are working according to ISO 14001 standard. This is the result of creating and implementing Group-wide, integrated environmental management system (EMS). ” In Finland, Sweden and Norway companies working in technical wholesale have ISO 14001, but in Poland, Russia and Baltics it is not at all such self-evident fact”, Group Quality Manager Sinikka Lieho says. “Now we have common environmental guidelines and systematics in all countries. On the other hand, this dependency also affects in a way that in case any country receives deviation in audits, those will now affect the whole Group, not only one country”, she adds.

Certified ISO 14001 environmental management system is part of Onninen’s responsibility actions. Onninen also has an ISO 9001 quality certificate that covers all it’s operating countries and all functions.
